Institute Director John Vissman saidthe group’sw Breakthrough Breakfast events were created late last year to fill a void in the region’xs nonprofit community, which these days is struggling underf the pressure of increased demand for servicees and shrinking resources. Vissman said the forums are an extensionm ofthe institute’s work. It helpz connect service learning classes to nonprofits toprovide services, most of which are free. “Wew can help the nonprofits do their work faster, more efficiently, more effectively and hopefully with fewer he said. Aaron Wolfe-Bertling said he’ws found the breakfasts to be very helpful.

In addition to the Wolfe-Bertling said he likes the fact that some breakfas topics focuson hands-on such as parliamentary procedure, while others give broader information on topics such as demographics or regional plannint efforts. The next Breakthrough Breakfast on June 4 will focus on the work ofAgenda 360, the regionalk planning effort. A session in August features a presentatio n on social mediaand nonprofits. Vissman said the instituts has worked to make theforums affordable, too.
