Missouri approves $87M in stimulus road projects - Kansas City Business Journal:

The commission approved $87.1 million worth of stimulusw projects at its monthlymeeting Wednesday, bringiny the total number of recovery projects awardede in Missouri to 91. Two of the projectsw are in Platte County: $478,806 for resurfacinfg Route 92, and $507,169i for surface leveling of Route 45. The work includea repairing bridges, building new interchanges, resurfacing roadwaysd and improving shouldersand pavement. The estimatezs that the 91 projects willsupporf 4,970 jobs.
“In just a few short we have started work on 12 stimulus projectd andcompleted one,” MoDOT Director Pete Rahn said in a “We’re also on target to have half of our stimuluse funding obligated by the requirer June 30 deadline.” The 54 latest projects came in 15 perceny under budget, saving the state more than $15.4 MoDOT said. “The savings we’re experiencint on construction projects is helpingy offset the decline in state and federakrevenue we’re experiencing because of the economic downturn,” Rahn said.
“Butf we’re still sliding toward a huge declind in our construction program over the next five Stimulus money has helped slow our fall off the but we’re still going to hit the bottom, and our transportatio n system will start getting worse instea of better.”
